Similar anxieties surfaced recently in Nasiriyah, where reports initially suggested hundreds of kilograms of pork had been discovered at a local restaurant. While subsequent laboratory tests performed in Baghdad confirmed that the seized meat was indeed spoiled and hazardous, they clarified that it was not actually pork. Together, these incidents highlight a growing urgency for Iraqi health officials to intensify their oversight of the food supply chain to restore public trust.
